OBSTACLES:

Vision

European Kratom Alliance strongly believes in harm reduction, human rights, and social justice principles. Our goal is the complete legalization of Kratom in the EEA and the entire continental Europe. We aim to do so by creating a functional market where Kratom can be legally purchased and consumed responsibly by any adult person on the European continent.

GOALS
    • Complete legalization of Kratom in Europe
    • Creation of a legal and controlled market for Kratom
    • GMP for Kratom
    • Legalization of Kratom in at least two countries by the end of 2025
    • Consolidation of the European Kratom Market
    • Establishing testing standards and laboratories in Europe

STRATEGY

We will focus on organized advocacy and lobbying efforts of the European and national regulatory bodies. We will highlight the benefits of the use of kratom and its history. At the same time, we will aim to build a coalition of like-minded organizations that can collaborate. We will try to create a loose network of self-sustaining kratom advocates. (Starting with Germany, Czech Republic, and the Netherlands). Establishing the scientific advisory council will aid our advocacy efforts by basing them more on fact-based and science-based.

NEEDS

Main Needs:

  • Minimal budget to achieve operational capacity
  • Hiring part-time staff to help with ongoing projects
  • Achieving the status of public good organization
  • Creation of the list of approved vendors and suppliers

Minor Needs:

  • More website contents
  • Translation of the website to German, Czech, Dutch, and other languages

Timeline:

2023:

  • Finalization of the project in the Czech Republic
  • Research over mutual recognition of goods and
  • Start of the formulation for the GMP/ Minimal testing standards.
  • Start of Kratom legislative and lobbying efforts in another country by the end of 2024

2024:

  • Formulation of GMP for Kratom
  • Finalization of the first stage of a regulatory campaign of Kratom in a second country
  • Consolidation of Kratom market
  • Labs with capacity for commercial testing of Kratom
  • Possible expansion of operations
OBSTACLES
  • Too small budget

  • There is not enough staff, and we can’t rely on volunteers for everything.

  • Lack of collaboration from the vendors.

  • Potential resistance from the regulatory agencies

  • Very niche subject/lack of public awareness

  • Potentially negative attitude of media

  • Potential delays in regulation of the market, due to slow moving legislative and political processes.

  • Inconstancies between results provided by different labs of Kratom samples.
